Sub-project Study spaces at the University Library of Bern (UB)
Status as of June 2026:
The pilot measurements at the VonRoll library, which are being carried out as part of the ‘Classrooms’ sub-project, have been underway since mid-May with the first provider (ASE). The sensor data is being verified on site through manual counts and compared with data from the existing camera solution. The second provider, Terabee, will be installed in mid-June.
Status as of April 2026:
As part of the pilot measurements for the "Classrooms" sub-project, which will be carried out in May, the two entrances to the VonRoll library will be measured. The aim is to compare the measurement accuracy of the sensors with the existing video cameras, as well as to define the (internal) workflows and responsibilities. The necessary preparations have been carried out.
Status as of February 2026:
Various exchange meetings are currently taking place with other universities that are carrying out similar projects in university libraries in order to gather experience on the optimal measurement techniques. In addition, a site analysis and prioritisation was carried out.
Status as of December 2025:
After an initial assessment, the sub-project structure was defined. It was also decided that the measurement methodology and accuracy would have to be defined on a location-by-location basis, as the individual locations of the University Library have different spatial conditions and requirements.
Status as of October 2025:
The sub-project Study spaces UB was launched in October 2025.
